We see vehicles every day, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be surprised now and again. You’re likely here because you wish to know more about the refreshed 2025 Toyota Sienna, and we’ve seen everything Toyota’s latest minivan offers. What does that include? Is the 2025 Sienna a decent place to jump in if you’re a first-time minivan shopper or returning driver? We’ll answer these questions today, so keep reading to learn everything we have in store for you.

What We Noticed First

The 2025 Toyota Sienna has impressed us for many reasons, as did its predecessors. Fuel efficiency is a big reason, and the 2025 model is no different. Its standard hybrid powertrain makes it one of the most fuel-efficient minivans we’ve seen. It’s available with front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), but its fuel efficiency isn’t as negatively impacted with AWD as you may expect.

Starting with FWD, the 2025 Sienna earns EPA-estimated ratings of 36 MPG in the city, on the highway, and combined. Most impressive, however, is the estimated 648 miles you can travel with a full gas tank. AWD models keep the 36 MPG on the highway rating but provide 34 MPG in the city and 35 MPG combined, giving them an estimated 630 miles of range when filled with gas. These ratings aren’t anything we aren’t used to, with the past several years' worth of Sienna models providing similarly excellent results.

The 2025 Sienna outputs 245 hp and has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. Its hybrid powertrain includes a 2.5L I-4 engine paired with an electric motor to help greatly increase fuel efficiency. The 2025 Sienna has an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (eCVT), meaning acceleration is fluid and has a continuous acceleration curve without a shifting gearbox, hence the CVT name. We don’t believe this was an area of the Sienna that Toyota needed to improve as part of the 2025 refresh, so we’re more than content with keeping with a tried and true favorite.

A Textbook Minivan

When we think of minivans, we think of large, roomy, and comfortable interiors fit for families with four, five, or even six children living in the household. Minivans are the most family-oriented vehicles you can find. They often go beyond what’s possible with midsize or even full-size SUVs regarding comfort and other accommodations when you need a third row of seats. The 2025 Sienna is what we call a textbook minivan. One look at the Sienna’s interior, and you’d agree.

The 2025 Sienna has a seating capacity of up to eight passengers. Many SUVs have ample front-row headroom and legroom but begin to falter when examining the second and especially the third rows. The headroom and legroom the Sienna provides are substantial by comparison. The third-row measurements of the 2025 Sienna are so spacious that we would be hard-pressed to call them bad, even if they were the second-row measurements of a midsize SUV. Let’s break it down into real-world measurements.

The 2025 Sienna has 40.1 inches of front-row headroom and an equally impressive 40.3 inches of legroom. Second-row passengers are treated to a very similar 39.9 inches of headroom and 39.9 inches of legroom, which is only a minute decrease over the front row. As for the third row we’ve previously hyped you about, it possesses an ample 37.4 inches of headroom and 38.7 inches of legroom. And, like a three-row SUV, the Sienna allows you to fold down one or two rows of seats to increase your available cargo space.

When all three rows are upright, and up to eight passengers are in your car, your 2025 Sienna will have 33.5 cu.ft. of cargo space, which we’d call nothing short of impressive. Folding down the third row, which may be a common occurrence for families of up to five, the Sienna astonishes again by more than doubling its available cargo space to 75.2 cu.ft. Lastly, if you need to capitalize on your van’s cargo space, perhaps because you’re moving and need to transport furniture, folding both back rows of seats gives you a maximum of 101 cu.ft. of space.

We’re Glad to See These Features

There are several features we’re glad to see with the 2025 Sienna. The first we’d like to mention is an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. However, it’s not so much the seat itself that’s unique; it’s that it comes standard, even with the base trim. Too many brand-new vehicles have manually adjustable driver’s seats as standard equipment. However, in the year 2025, it’s fair to say that you want your brand-new vehicle to have a power-adjustable driver’s seat, at the very least.

Sure, the base Sienna doesn’t have a heated or ventilated seat, and it’s made of cloth, but that’s where the upgrade path comes into play. Stepping up to the XLE nets you SofTex leatherette-trimmed heated seats, including an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, and your front-row passenger is treated to a four-way power-adjustable seat. The Limited and Platinum have heated and ventilated seats made of genuine leather, with a driver memory function that makes it easy to create separate profiles for the seat's position. The Sienna is a family-focused vehicle, so there’s a high chance you’re sharing it with someone, whether that's a spouse, parent, sibling, child, or anyone else, so the driver memory function is very useful.

An Evolved Entertainment Center

One of the most popular features a minivan can have is an entertainment center for the backseat passengers. Models typically feature a screen you can fold out with an accompanying DVD player and AV ports for game consoles if you are lucky. Although most kids these days are known to use their smartphones, tablets, or even handheld game consoles like the Nintendo Switch in the car, the 2025 Sienna has an entertainment center for backseat passengers that may encourage them to put the phone down and watch or play something on the amazing 11.6-inch screen.

The 11.6-inch screen built into the entertainment center is crafted for vibrancy and clarity, the latter of which is achieved by using a 1080p Full HD panel. This 1080p screen has HDMI inputs built in, meaning your kids can bring game consoles like their Xbox or PlayStation, which you can power using the 1500W inverter that’s optional on every trim where the entertainment center is available.

A great idea we can think of for this screen is to bring a laptop on the ride, plug it into the HDMI port on the screen, and pair it with your vehicle’s available Wi-Fi Connect hotspot to stream movies, TV shows, live streams, YouTube videos, and more. The rear-row entertainment center also has a remote control and two pairs of wireless headphones to keep passengers invested in their shows, movies, and games while you and your front-row passenger can carry on with uninterrupted conversations. You won’t hear "Are we there yet?" nearly as much as you may be accustomed to.

Where Do We Go From Here?

After spending time with the updated 2025 Sienna, it’s clear that Toyota is strengthening its mission of creating the minivan to end all minivans. How does it do this? By supplying a better product. It’s a tale as old as time, but we believe the 2025 Sienna runs circles around its competition despite many similarities to its predecessors. That begs the question: where do we go from here? Quite frankly, there’s no reason for the Sienna to evolve again soon, especially with the type of experience you’ll get if you opt for one of the higher-tier trims and invest in some optional packages. This makes the 2025 Sienna an excellent place to jump in if you’re shopping for a minivan because we suspect this year’s model will remain relevant and stand up to its competitors for several years.
